Larch

For centuries, mankind has witnessed the unique performance of structures built from Siberian Larch. Their experiences lead them to refer to the Siberian Larch as "Tree of Eternity".

Some homes and churches in Russia are estimated to exist for a period of over 800 years. Perhaps the most famous example of longevity is its use in the construction of the ancient city of Venice. Due to proximity, the Europeans were able to benefit from this material.

Architects in Sweden, Norway, Finland, Austria, and Japan determine the use of spruce in the construction of residential houses and commercial premises such as schools, museums, stadiums and bridges.

The advantages are impressive dimensional stability, low installation costs, low maintenance costs, high quality construction, and an aesthetically beautiful wood. However, the most striking feature of Siberian Larch is its natural resistance to wear.

High density - The Siberian Larch has average density of 41 lbs/ft3. The higher density makes it more difficult for organisms that decompose it to penetrate the wood. In addition to the IPE, the Siberian Larch is denser than any other most commonly used material.

It grows in a harsh climate - The climate in which the Siberian Larch grows is defined as extremely continental, that means hot summers and very cold winters. Under Siberian larch cultivated wherein the average temperature in January is -15 degrees Celsius and July reaches 18 degrees Celsius. This results in a short growing period, and therefore, in a greater percentage of latewood and very tight grains of wood. The latewood is denser and mechanically stronger than earlywood. This higher level of latewood corresponds to a naturally more resistant wood.

Hardwood - The hardness of the wood, which is largely related to its density, generally defined as resistance to indentation. Fewer bumps and abrasions mean fewer places for water and fungi to penetrate the wood. The hardest wood will not only have a positive effect on endurance, but will also help to maintain the floor for a better look. The Siberian Larch has a hardness of 1.100 lbs / in2 as measured by the Janka Scale. Once it overcomes most of conventional floor materials.

High resin content and extracts - These resins and chemical deposits function as natural antiseptic which is very repellent to insects. While western red cedar and Redwood are very soft, in the past they had the reputation that they are good wood for outdoors. This is because they contain extracts that are toxic to fungi. The chemical composition of the wood can significantly affect the physical strength. This is especially true for the Siberian Larch. The resins and extracts in Larch have been "charged" with the creation of this high resistance to decay and rot. The primary extract in Siberian Larch is arabinoglactan which is toxic to fungi. The arabinoglactan content in Larch wood is 10-15%.
